The Center for Gulf Studies and Global Policy (GSGP) participated in the EU Community of Practice on Peace Mediation 2026 conference held on 20-21 October in Brussels with a panel titled "The New Geography of Mediation: Regional Middle Powers and the Future of Peace Processes."

Convening mediation practitioners, diplomats, and academics, the panel, held on October 20, examined the changing dynamics of mediation and the role of regional actors in peace processes, drawing on the cases of Türkiye, Pakistan, and Oman.

The panel was opened and moderated by the Center's Director, Prof. Dr. Ismail Numan Telci, and featured Center researchers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yetim and Dr. Intissar Kherigi as speakers. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Baabood, Chair of the State of Qatar for Islamic Area Studies at Waseda University, addressed Oman's experience in mediation.

As the only institution from Türkiye represented at the gathering, the Center plans to continue its academic and policy-oriented work on regional mediation experiences and Türkiye's role in this field through publications and further events.
